Okay, so, I saw this YSL June Box Bag thing, and I was like, “I gotta make one myself!” So, I did some digging, right? Turns out, this bag ain’t just a regular bag. It’s all fancy with this “CASSANDRE” thing and diamond-quilted stitching, whatever that means.
First, I started by looking everywhere online to get an idea of what it really looks like. I printed out a bunch of pictures, looked at the bag from different angles, you know, really got to know it.
Getting the Materials
- Leather: I went to this local shop that sells all kinds of leather scraps. Found some black calfskin that looked pretty close to the real deal.
- Hardware: Now this was tricky. I couldn’t find the exact same “CASSANDRE” thing, so I found something similar at a craft store. It’s like a metal logo-type thing. Close enough, right?
- Lining: The inside is supposed to be suede. I found some black suede fabric at another store and grabbed a yard.
Putting It All Together
Then, I started cutting the leather. I made a pattern based on the pictures I found. It was a bit like putting together a puzzle. I had to cut out these small squares and rectangles. The diamond-quilted stuff? I had to sew a bunch of little squares together. My fingers were sore after that!
Sewing the whole thing was, let me tell you, a pain in the butt. I used my old sewing machine, and it was not happy sewing through all that thick leather. But, I pushed through! I stitched the pieces together, added the lining, and then came the hardest part: attaching that metal logo thing. I used some heavy-duty glue and hoped for the best. I tried to make it look neat, but it’s a bit wonky, to be honest.
It took me a whole weekend, but I finally finished it. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. It doesn’t look exactly like the real YSL bag, but it’s kinda close. From far away, you might not even know the difference. I showed it to my friend, and she was like, “Wow, you made that?” She thought it was real for a second! Maybe I should sell these things.
Anyways, that’s my story of how I tried to remake the YSL June Box Bag. It was a fun little project, even though it was tough. I learned a lot about sewing and working with leather. Would I do it again? Probably not. But hey, at least I have a cool, kinda-sorta designer bag now, and I can say I made it myself. That’s gotta count for something, right?
