Hey everyone, so, I’ve been seeing this YSL JUNE BOX BAG everywhere lately, and I got super curious. It’s called the “June Box Bag” – sounds pretty fancy, right? I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” It seemed like a fun challenge, and I love a good DIY project.
First things first, I started by looking up this bag online. I saw it on all these fancy websites like Farfetch and Bloomingdale’s. Man, this bag is popular! And it’s not just any bag; it’s made of calfskin leather, has this shiny logo thing called the “Cassandre,” and it’s all quilted and stylish. It reminded me of those sleek city cars, you know? Shiny and stylish.
So, I got myself some leather. Not sure if it’s the exact “calfskin” they use, but it’s good quality stuff. The first step was to cut the leather into the right shapes. I used some cardboard to make a template – just like making a pattern for sewing clothes. It was a bit tricky to get the curved edges right, but I managed.
Next up was the quilting. Now, I’ve done some sewing before, but this was a whole new level. I wanted that puffy, quilted look, so I used some padding underneath the leather. I sewed a grid pattern across the leather pieces. It took a while, and my fingers were definitely feeling it, but the result was pretty cool. It started to look like the real deal!
The hardest part, I think, was making the Cassandre closure. In the real YSL bag, it’s a pivoting metallic logo. I didn’t have any fancy metalworking tools, so I had to get creative. I ended up using some sturdy wire and shaping it into the YSL logo. It wasn’t perfect, but it had that same vibe. I then attached it to the front flap, making sure it could pivot.
Putting the bag together was like assembling a puzzle. I sewed the side panels to the front and back, making sure to keep the edges neat. I added a lining inside – just some soft fabric I had lying around. It’s not the fancy lining they have in the real bag, but it does the job.
For the strap, I used a long piece of leather. I wanted it to be adjustable, so I added some buckles. I punched holes in the leather and attached the buckles with rivets. It was tough work, but I got it done.
And there it was – my very own homemade YSL June Box Bag. Okay, it’s not exactly like the ones they sell in stores. It’s a bit rough around the edges, and my Cassandre logo is definitely handmade. But you know what? I’m really proud of it. It was a lot of work, but I learned so much along the way.
Here’s what I learned from this whole experience:

This whole project got me thinking about the history of the brand, too. And those high-end materials and the glamorous appeal, it all adds up, you know? Makes these bags something special. It’s not just a bag; it’s a statement.
