So, I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing watch for a while now. You know, the one that’s supposed to be all fancy and precise. It’s a hefty 44.25 mm, which is a bit bigger than what I usually go for, but hey, it’s an OMEGA, right? I finally decided to go and check the real thing.
First off, I did some digging online. Found out these Speedmaster watches have some serious history. I mean, they’ve been around since 1957, and get this – they were the first watches worn on the moon! How cool is that? This particular model, though, is all about some new tech that lets you fine-tune the movement. Sounds complicated, but apparently, it makes the watch super accurate.
I also looked at what makes these watches tick. I read about some Co-Axial escapement, which is supposed to make the watch keep good time for longer. Plus, it’s got something called a silicon balance spring that makes it resistant to magnets. I’m no watch expert, but it all sounded pretty impressive.
With all this in my head, I hit the OMEGA official store. Seeing the watch in person was something else. It’s definitely a looker, with that classic Speedmaster style. It felt solid on my wrist, a bit hefty like I mentioned. On paper, the number is kind of big, around 42mm, with lug-to-lug at 47mm, and 13mm thickness, I thought it was gonna be this giant thing on my wrist. But no, it actually looked pretty sharp, not too bulky at all.
I chatted with the salesperson, and they told me more about its features. They even mentioned how this model was approved by NASA for Apollo astronauts back in ’65. I guess if it’s good enough for space, it’s good enough for me. And I’ve heard rumors that there’s a whole world of games, food, and events related to Speedmaster. They really thought of everything, didn’t they?
Anyway, after trying it on and hearing all about it, I was sold. I mean it costs me an arm and a leg, but I’ve always wanted a Speedmaster, and this one just felt right. Plus, it’s a piece of history, right? A watch that’s been to the moon and back.
